The DVSA Three Part Test
Part One - Driving Theory
To become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), you are required to pass the Three Part DVSA test.
Making a career change is a big decision to make and we want to help you be sure it’s the right one for you!
We would love to have the opportunity for one of our ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Training) registered trainers meet with you and discuss the details. No obligation, no pressure, just honest facts about program!
We will tell you all about what you can expect from your dedicated trainer, the support program we have in place for you and, once qualified, your options as an ADI.
Our course packages will provide you with everything you need to become a fully qualified Driving Instructor.
It's no mean feat to achieve the 'Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor' status. It takes commitment and hard work, but trust us when we say this job is worth it!
This part can be done at home and using the online activities, and other supporting materials. You can arrange the test when you're ready. Your instructor trainer will give you some support for this part. You'll be tested on road procedure traffic signs and signals, driving test and laws, and instructional techniques.
Part Two - Driving Ability
Practical driving sessions with one of our instructor trainers will bring your personal driving ability up to the high standard required of competence required by the DVSA. Training is provided on a one to one basis, however evidence suggests that trainees, when buddied up with another, will progress more quickly to the standard required.
Part Three - Instructional Ability
In this part of the DVSA test you'll demonstrate that you can teach others. This element will require you to bring all your knowledge and skills into delivering a driving lesson and during this phase we can ask our learner drivers to take part in your training so that you get to deliver an actual lesson with the full support of your trainer.
After passing all three parts of the DVSA test, you'll qualify for a green badge that means you're a fully qualified driving instructor!
